Ponta Delgada

Ponta Delgada is a capital and the largest city of the Azores. Oh the best part it has a direct flight from Boston! It is small city with cafes and restaurants, as well as the port where all the major cruise ships come in, and most of the nightlife happens.

The life here is pretty simple, and the city at the moment is not overflowing with tourists. Their tourist season starts at the end of June. We were here right at the beginning of it, and the weather is still pretty wet with rains, but the temperatures are high and the air very humid. It was a good time to go as the Azores are a hiking, or nature exploring island and we never were too hot.

Ponta Delgada is well connected to other cities by buses, but the best transportation is a car. So if anyone decides to visit this beautiful land I would recommend renting one, or paying extra money (although not an outrageous amount for tour bus).

As for the living arrangement we found an affordable apartment right in the middle of Ponta Delgada, it is walkable and convenient everywhere. http://azoresrent.yolasite.com/ - apartment http://vimeo.com/18572417

Azores - Sao Miguel

Ilha de Sao Miguel is the largest island out of 9 islands in the Azores. The population of the island is 120,000. The islands have a volcanic origin, and even today we can find mountains, craters, warm waterfalls and hot springs located all through out the island.

To move from one island to another there are ferries as well as planes that connect each one.

50% of energy on the island is generated by natural energy. 5% comes from water and 45% from the hot steam in the earth.

The island's temperature around the year is generally between 10-25C, all year round.
